Getting started with anything new is scary. Anytime you venture outside of your comfort zone you are going to feel some fear. Fear of failure, being criticized and fear of being made a fool. But that's what happen when your start anything new. So it's good, that feeling of fear and failure is absolutely necessary in order to get better at anything.
As Bernard Shaw once remarked. "if you teach a man anything he will never learn." Learning is an active process. We learn by doing. To master or be good at anything you need to start and do something.
If you have fear of being made a fool. Elbert Hubbard said, "Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day. Wisdom consists in not exceeding that limit."
Fear of being criticized? Walt Whitman put it this way, "Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you and were tender with you and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who rejected you and braced themselves against you, or disputed the passage with you? We are our most servere critic. Why wait for others to criticize us or our work?
I'm still not completely done with my concept on this blog. This blog will contain inspiration, art, fashion, health, randomness. So I hope this is the start of something interesting and fun.
I was once told by my dad, "if you never want to fail, be criticized or look like a fool, then don't do anything at all." I'd rather look like a fool, be criticzed and fail, than do absolutely nothing at all. At least I can say I have tried, lived and not wasted away.
Now is a good time to start something new.
